Cleaning Your Boat

Before your first outing, take the time to clean your boat thoroughly. A clean boat not only looks inviting but also lasts longer by removing residue, debris, and other build-up.

1. Thorough Cleaning: After months of storage, give your boat a comprehensive cleaning from top to bottom. Use your favorite marine wash to scrub all surfaces.

Cleaning Boat Upholstery

Don’t overlook the importance of cleaning your boat’s upholstery. Sunbrella fabrics are low maintenance and easy to clean, ensuring they look great for years.

1. General Cleaning: Use Sunbrella® Clean™ Multi-Purpose Fabric Cleaner to tackle spills and stains. This cleaner is specially formulated to clean and brighten Sunbrella fabrics, removing everyday dirt and grime.
2. Steps for Cleaning:
   • Brush off loose dirt.
   • Prepare a cleaning solution of 1/4 cup mild soap per gallon of lukewarm water or use Sunbrella Clean Multi-Purpose Fabric Cleaner.
   • Use a sponge or soft bristle brush to clean.
   • Allow the solution to soak into the fabric.
   • Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
   • Air dry the fabric.

Cleaning Sunbrella Horizon®

Sunbrella Horizon marine vinyl is designed to withstand harsh marine conditions. Regular care helps maintain its appearance.

1. General Cleaning:
   • Wipe spills immediately with a dry towel or soft cloth.
   • Clean with a soapy water solution (1 teaspoon mild soap to 1 cup water) or Sunbrella Clean Multi-Purpose Fabric Cleaner.
   • Blot excess moisture with a clean, dry towel.
   • For stubborn stains, use isopropyl alcohol.
   • Rinse thoroughly with water.
   • Allow fabric to air dry.

Cleaning Marine Tops and Shade

Sunbrella marine canvas fabrics provide comfort and protection for boat covers and tops. Regular cleaning prevents dirt from embedding deeply.

1. Steps for Cleaning:
   • Brush off loose dirt.
   • Hose down with clean water.
   • Prepare a cleaning solution of water and mild soap or use Sunbrella Clean Multi-Purpose Fabric Cleaner.
   • Use a soft bristle brush to clean.
   • Allow the solution to soak into the fabric.
   • Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
   • Air dry.

Sunbrella fabrics are treated with a water and stain repellent finish that lasts for years but may need replenishing. Use 303® Fabric Guard™ to retreat fabrics as needed.

Cleaning Mold and Mildew

1. Steps for Cleaning with Bleach:
   • Prepare a solution of 1 cup bleach and 1/4 cup mild soap per gallon of water.
   • Apply and allow to soak for 15 minutes.
   • Remove stains with a non-abrasive sponge or soft brush.
   • Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
   • Air dry.
   • For severe stains, increase bleach quantities as needed.
